The Theatre of Song in Wroclaw was founded in 2005, as an initiative of the Government of Wroclaw, with Roman Kolakowski as the artistic director - composer, poet, director and producer, the author of the great, spectacular art events such as Alkimja, Weill 2000, Angels of Europe, or mystery of iniquity.
The Theatre of Song presents world premiere performances with well-known stars and invited recitals from all over the country. The Theatre of Song also shows the most interesting artists who are at the beginning of their path. This applies to both actors and singers, as well as authors, composers, arrangers.
So it is a traditional theatre - derived from the traditions of European interwar cabaret, classic French songs, reaching for humor Gałczyńskiego, Cabaret of Elderly Gentlemen and "Piwnica", Wojciech Mlynarski's essays and poetry of Agnieszka Osiecka - but it uses modern musical language originating from the design of Kurt Weill, Tom Waits, and Nick Cave. There is also place for Russian ballads, Portuguese fado, Greek and Spanish songs.
In the first season of activity the Theatre presented seven premieres.
