JANOWSKIE LASY forest-historical reserve is located in the region of Porytowe Hill. It is covered with pine trees, mixed forests, alder, and noteworthy natural regeneration of fir.
The reserve has an area of 2676 hectares and part of it is the picturesque valley of the Branew River. Porytowe Hill is a place of one of the largest partisan battles of World War II. On the eastern edge of Porytowe Hill there is a monument commemorating these events, a partisan cemetery and partisan graves in the forest, traces of trenches and gun emplacements. There are two marked hiking trains that run through the area.
