Beautiful and full of nature's attractions PARK WOLNOŚCI invites!!!
The biggest park of parks in Brzeg is PARK WOLNOŚCI with its area of 66ha, it was established at the beginning of present century. Its founder was a prominent mayor of Brzeg, Julius Peppel. The park spreads towards south-west from the centre and reaches the village Skarbimierz. The shape is similar to the shape of a trapezium. From the north-west side, it sticks to quite wet meadows. The meadows dehydrated by a drain, above which there grow Black Alder and Grey Alder, thicket of Hazel, Common Buckthorn, Water Elder, and many other. The width of the park has 600m. There is light and medium clay that arise from moraine clay, which comes from the mixture of glacial marl with dusty pieces similar to loess. In the western part of the park, You can see such trees as: numerous Pedunculate Oaks, Common Beech, Hornbeam; in some places small-leaved and large-leaved Lime, Common Ash, Wych Elm, Norway Maple. Among bushes, there are: Ribus Alpinum, European Cornel, Cornus Alba, Common Hawthorn, Tartarian Honeysuckle, Weigela florida, Crataegus, Acer Ginnala, Symphoricarpos albus (Duhamel). 27th of April, 2000 - the Town Council decided to name the park: PARK WOLNOŚCI OF JULIUS PEPPEL.
