The reserve covers part of the old beech-fir forest in the municipality of Fredropol. It covers an area of 151.86 hectares.
The dominant community in the reserve is the submontane form of Carpathian beech. Deep ravines and gorges add a special charm. Flora of this area is very rich. There are inter alia: Cardamine glanduligera, Symphytum cordatum, common ivy, Aposeris foetida, mezereon, wild ginger, lesser butterfly orchid, sweet woodruff. Fauna is also rich, with many species protected and endangered in Poland. During the breeding season there were 39 species of birds found in the reserve. The most interesting include woodpeckers (grey-headed, black, and white-backed), raven, lesser spotted eagle and Ural owl, which is a symbol of PCPE.
