Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kielce - Baroque Church with the remains of the Romanesque style, located in the heart of the "Castle Hill", one of the most important monuments of the city.
Cathedral Basilica stands on the site of the Romanesque collegiate Church founded by Bishop Gideon (Gedek) of the Gryfit family in 1171 and destroyed in 1244 by the army of Konrad Mazowiecki. After several expansions, it acquired the present rectangular, three-nave shape with a semicircular apse. Its equipment is maintained in an early Baroque style.
