Cinema Charlie was created in 1994. Since the beginning the repertoire that it presented was aspiring and thought-provoking. Between years 1996 and 1999 Cinema Charlie belonged to the Studio Cinemas Network. Due to the Cinema Charlie's initiative Agnieszka Holland and Zbigniew Rybczyński received their own "stars" at "Piotrkowska St. Hall Of Fame". The various events that Charlie Cinema organized were an excellent chance for many film creators to visit Lodz. Some of them were Michael Nyman (concert at Teatr Nowy, co-hosted by The British Council), Ryszard Horowitz (an exhibition at "Willa" Gallery), Terry Jones (Monty Python Film Festival), Jean Louis Trintignant, Zbigniew Praisner, Krzysztof Kieslowski (the premiere show of the film "Red" during the "100 years of Cinema" celebration, at Teatr Wielki). At present Charlie Cinema offers his guests two screening rooms, which are equipped with the most advanced sound system Dolby Stereo SR, pearl screens and very comfortable conference chairs. Moreover the Big Screening Room is equipped with additional sound system (32 speakers) placed on the ceiling, which may serve separately during conferences, or it may be used to enhance the sound effects while watching films. In 2004 Charlie cinema entered the European Cinema Organization "Europa Cinemas".
