Museum of Rzeszow's History was opened in 2002, it is one of the departments of Rzeszow District Museum. This new museum was created in a seventeenth-century tenement Tourists can see here a constant exhibition "Six centuries of Rzeszów's History (1354 - 1944)", which shows Rzeszow history from Middle Ages till the end of II World War. Tourists can connect visiting museum with a walk through Underground Tourist Route , which is one of the greatest attractions of the city. Since 2001 people have visited underground irregular network corridors and cellars of different sizes situated at 3 levels. The Route is 213 metres long and covers 34 cellars and corridors. The chambers are located under buildings and Market Square. The lowest place is almost 10 metres (9.58) below surface. The cellars were built in different times, the oldest in a Middle Ages and they were used as a storehouses, warehouses by merchants. The cellars situated on the highest level also served as shops and they were open to the public. During the numerous invasions, uprisings, wars people used the chambers as a shelter.
