After the First World War was ended and after Poland got back their independence, the first parish in Mońki was instituted. The first parish priest was Mieczysław Małynicz-Malicki and thanks to him there was built the brick chapel. The project of new temple by its own character link was linked to renaissance and it was made by architect Stefan Szyller. The building of the new church began in 1923. In 1931 the church was dedicated by Romuald Jałbrzykowski.
