The building was erected in the middle of the fourteenth century. Over the years, the town hall was rebuilt several times.
Located in the western part of the market the town hall blends well with the surrounding ruins of the parish church. Built in the mid-fourteenth century, for many years it was the office of municipal authorities. It was the place of debates of the municipal councilors and aldermen and since 1335 also of the mayor. Over the years, the town hall was rebuilt several times. In the first decade of the sixteenth century the western part of the tower was built onto the main building, and in the seventeenth century it was rebuilt in the style of the late Renaissance with new three peaks.The Town Hall, as the representative seat of the government was the host to such eminent guest as Zygmunt Jagiellon, Sigismund the Old, Augustus the Strong Sas and in 1712 alsoTsar Peter I.
