The school of wise men of Lublin was founded in 1930 and it was the largest such an institution in the world.
In 1930, in Lublin, at the initiative of Agudas Yisrael Shapiro, a very modern Talmudic academy - Wise Men Lublin School. The designer of the building was Agenor Smoluchowski, he gave his eclectic style. The university has six floors. In addition to classrooms there was also a library, a synagogue, rooms for students, housing the Rector. In 1939 the building was taken of the Jewish community. From 1945 to 2005 housed by the University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, and the Academy of Medicine. In 2006 the university officially opened the room to the work of adapting the building for Municipalities
