This is a great documenting the gold mining industry. Its most interesting exhibits are its geological and mining charts.
This is one of the largest attractions of the town of Zloty Stok. The Museum of Mining and Smelting of Gold is located in the Zloty Potok river valley. The tourist route, depicting the history of the mining of precious metals, was opened in 1996 and consists of two tunnels (one with access for the disabled).
However, the museum exhibition is housed in the former explosives storage chamber and in the mouth of the “Gertruda” tunnel. The museum has collections relating to the history of gold mining with many relics from the exploitation and smelting processes of gold ore and arsenic in Zloty Stok and other surrounding facilities. The recommended tour offered by the museum is a trip to the “Czarna” Adit which includes a visit to a 10m high underground waterfall.
The museum’s exhibits draw attention to its unique collection of geological and mining maps showing the development of the mining areas “Reicher Trost” (Rich Consolation), “Goldener Esel” (Golden Ass) and “Himmelfahrt” (Assumption) from the 17th century to World War II, part of a tunnel with wooden supports with an old cart to transport ore, drilling rigs and examples of typical gold-bearing ores.
