The Radochowska cave is situated on the southern slope of Mount Bzowiec which reaches a height of 697 metres above sea level. It was created as a result of marble, crystalline limestone, being dissolved by water.
FEATURES, ORIGINS, VALUES AND LEGAL PROTECTION
The cave had already been entered in the 18th century. It was the largest cavern in the Sudety until the discovery of the Bear Cave in Kletno. The total length of the cave is about 500m. Like in the Bear Cave, there are examples here of draperies, cascades, stalactites and stalagmites as well as other types of cave formations, however they are much less impressive. The Radochowska cave was open to everyone for many years, pseudo-tourists made it their own. Before World War II the cave had a caretaker. From 1933 it was looked after by Henryk Perigrin, a former miner with Ladek Zdroj. With tourists in mind, he opened up other corridors and chambers by removing thick layers of sediment. What he discovered he exhibited in a small museum just outside the cave. This building is now in ruins as it burned down in the 1960’s. The cave has currently two entrances which are located about 16 metres above the valley floor. The entire cave is protected as an inanimate monument of nature.
