This adit is part of a complex of mine workings located just a few meters below the surface. In terms of structure and equipment it mimics other underground mines. It has over 500m of mine workings and is one of the largest of its kind in Poland.
FEATURES, ORIGINS, VALUES AND LEGAL PROTECTION
The excavation was carried out using steel curved housing or bricks. The tunnels are illuminated and equipped with pipes for fire prevention and compressed air. They have a ventilation system with wooden or steel vent dams and other necessary equipment used in underground mining workings such as machinery for drilling in corridors or extracting coal from longwall workings. The atmosphere inside the tunnel is reminiscent to that inside a proper mine. In addition to its teaching function, this adit is a site suited to sightseeing by tourists. The adit was opened for use in 1984.
